Established in 1815, the NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW is the longest-lived literary magazine in the United States. We are interested in high-quality poetry, fiction, and nonfiction on any subject; however, we are especially interested in work that addresses contemporary North American concerns and issues, particularly with the environment, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and class.
The NAR is published by the University of Northern Iowa, where it has lived since 1968. For those who want to submit work, we look at submissions year-round. You can submit to the NAR electronically by going to the “Submission Guidelines” page on our website.
